I have a 6 months old baby. i recently bought her nestle nigeria infant cereal maize/soya. someone however discouraged me about soya products but she does not remember the reason why soya is allegedly bad in babies.
Could you kindly share with me whether it is ok?

My sister baby eats the maize/soya one as well and his just fine. i know cos i called her before answering your question.
there is also a nestle company in |Nigeria.
most of the people who dis courage us bout what is good or bad never truly know the real reason why they hold those particular opinions. usually they're just stuff they hear form other people.

Where did you buy this product? Like the first person who responded said, baby foods have to be approved by the FDA. So make sure yours is. Some people feel that giving a baby soy products can cause behavioral problems later on. However, some babies can't tolerate the milk based formulas and are on soy products through their whole infancy. I don't think Dr.'s would put them on this kind of diet if it caused problems. Still, your best bed would be to ask your Dr. And I always heard that the best kind of infant cereal is rice cereal, so if you are still concerned, stick to that.

It is from Switzerland, but I don't know if Nigeria has a company under license of Nestle.

There are a lot of concerns about soy formula. It is usually only reccommened if the baby is unable to digest regular formula.

Remember all baby food has to be approved by the FDA, however if your worried ask your pediatrician.
