I'm using the Nokia 3230 phone as you know it uses memory card. And recently when I was using the nokia earpiece to listen to the radio, my friend smses me and the phone suddenly turned turned off itself & then restart again. It happened a few times but after that I stopped using the earpiece cuz it's irritating.

From then on when I received smses it will do that restarting AGAIN! And I tried to change my wallpaper and it said "Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first." I''ve deleted almost everything from the memory & phone. What the hell is happening~!?!??!?!

its because of an inbuilt recovery function of nokia phones
whenever the software crashes due to multitasking overload or low available memory the phone automatically restarts itself to try and remove the error. however if it occurs very frequently or repeatedly, it could be a bigger system failiure that should be shown to a service center

Ok! i'm not a specialist. however i also have a nokia phone and once the battery was running out really fast (i know it not related) but! it USUALLY helps if you take out the battery and rest it for 5-10 minutes and put it back in again. You can try with the memory card.
Just play around with it. Just dont take the whole phone apart...
Smile :) Take Care
P.S Hope it helps
