A great many people suffer from the same or similar problem, to get it corrected there are a few simple things you can do.
1. Start by talking to the parents and the kids themselves and ask them NOT to stray into your yard and cause damage.
2. A higher and more sturdy fence may be a permanent answer.
3. A complaint to the local authorities and willingness to sign formal complaints against the parents. Parents are responsible for the acts of their children.
4. If the parents are unreasonable and unwilling to control thier children let them know that you are willing to litigate the problem and sue for damages.
5. You have rights and unwanted children (people) anyone not invited onto your property are considered trespassers which is usually against the law no matter where you live.
To be neighborly though I would first attmept to resolve the problem amicably with the parents, if that doesnt work, you'll have to resort to more stringent methods to protect your privacy and property. If it is necessary to call the police a few times it will probably bring the matter to a head and the culperts will be told to restrain their children or suffer the consequences of formal charges.

Bloody hell, they are just kids! Its the summer holidays, and if you really have an issue, why havent you mentioned that you have spoke to the parents about it, only the warden? Don't you have the backbone to open your mouth to the family concerned?
And are you sure the hole was made for the convenience of getting the ball back, or is that what you presume?
If they are standing all over your flower beds or something, tell them to knock on the front door and ask for the ball. In the end you would probably get tired of that too, and so they cant do right for doing wrong really. Kids will be kids, weren't you one?

I think that if you speak to the kids and say that you dont mind if they want to collect their ball but to come to you before they start playing and say that they might have to go into the garden to collect the ball if it goes over the fence.
I think though it would annoy you more if they were knocking on your door everytime they kicked it over.
They are amusing themselves and being children. At least they are not throwing eggs at your house or vandelising property. I had that with the kids in my neighbourhood so be grateful it is only a ball.

Sadly, I was once one of those children and I remember thinking our neighbors were just cranky people.
My advice would be to make friends with these children. When you are out in the yard and you see them playing, bring them a cookie or kool-aid and open up conversation with them.
Once you feel you are friends, ask them to be especially careful with your garden, and that if the ball comes into your garden to please let you get the ball to save the nice plants or flowers.
You will need to be more children friendly though, and not worry about destruction of grass or noise.
I'd rather have children playing cricket than on the computer or joining gangs. Good Luck

A higher fence, topped with razor wire and linked to the mains. A sensor from an automatic light at the front of your property, link it to a very loud siren, one that will wail the street down, 5000 decibles. Every time they play ball at the front of the house, the siren scares them to death and involves the whole street with your problem. The parents of these kids are gene pool slurry, you really should think of moving away.

I would run out and confiscate the ball. Tell them they can have it back if they reduce the amount of times they go into your garden. If they break their promise, don't give it back the next time you've run out and got it. I didn't piss people off like that when I was a child, and I'd be mortified if my children annoyed other people like that.

I live in knowsley, liverpool. All of our neighbours were trouble until the local authority imposed ASBO's. Three families have been evicted and the local paper says that two more families are to follow. The neighbourhood has improved greatly...no motor cycles...no late night parties.......no gangs. It really has had an effect. Contact your local police force or council. DONT PUT UP WITH IT.....REPORT IT.....YOU CAN SUE YOUR COUNCIL IF THEY DO NOTHING. REMEMBER....THE KIDS ARE TRESPASSING!

Kids will be kids. You can just ask them nicely to not disturb you or your yard for whatever reason. If the problem remains, just talk to the parents.

you have to speak to parents and ask why they made a hole. be diplomatic, you don't know how long you will live next to each other, and who knows they may help you out one day. but you do need to tell them.
