Years ago, I read up on this at Uni and if memory serves, the monotheistic traditions (Judaism, Islam and Christianity) have their roots in Zoroastrianism. That's where the original concepts of good and evil originated. That area used to be Persia (Iran).

Yes, there was some people in ancient Iran with the religion of Zartoshta who were worshipers of fire. But long after the majority of the Iranians are following Islam. This is historical fact. Think of a time when there was practically no religion. Then the philosophers came with their thought about religion and the people embraced different religion which convinced them.

Islam also has sects, like Orthadox, Katholic, etc in Christianity.
The sect of Iranian is different then Arabs, they are Shea which is not accepted by Arabs as a truthful Islam sect.
Zartoshta is their old religion which consider the flame as a holy symbol, but I do not think there are still Zartoshta believers in IRAN.

The religions practiced in a certain country are not a matter of opinion, but of fact.
