Did their "freedom" and their unlimitted "liberation" gave them a better life? Or a better peace of mind ? Or did it distort their mentality and their psychology ?

I would like to hear your logical comments.

I don't know that there is a greater suicide rate in Ist world countries. I know because of our technology we might record them better, so it appears that it is more. However in third world countries where people are strapping bombs to them selves and killing themselves and others, I would say the suicide rate is greater there wouldn't you? Besides most of the people on this site that is talking about suicide, are from India and the last I checked they are not a 1st world country.

Liberation is great it doesn't distort anyone mentally. It might be that we work harder and have a lot of stress because we have more responsibilities. If your life consists of herding goats and sitting around all day, and going to temple then you might not be as stressed. If you have a lot of bills and a high paying, high stressed job, then you most likely will be more stressed. Choices doesn't make you stressed, it is usually what you chose to do that makes all the difference.

Most people who are stressed don't commit suicide, the cope or relieve themselves of the stressor. People who commit suicide are in a lot of pain and decide to make a permanent solution to a fixable problem. Some of them might have a chemical imbalance and don't get any help for it. When your country becomes more develop and all your people have greater access to technology then you will become freer because of your access to information then you will record better suicide trends accurately.

The most important thing to know is this, just because your father said it or someone you respect said it, it doesn't necessarily makes it true. I hope I was helpful.

It all boils down to the fact that most westerners are lonely, and therefore depressed. They have all the freedom to do as they please, and hence they tend to ask for "space" and the liberty to do what what they think is right. This, in turn, produces some enmity amongst some people because, most don't care about how their actions and words affect the next person, and this makes people alienate from each other. Alienation and isolation can be very "killing"; these feelings just drive potential suicide commiters to the edge.

3 M's as far I can see

materialism
monoculture
meaninglessness

also it's not very sunny in Sweden [makes people grim]

Some of the happiest and most content people Ive met come from poor continents.Vanuatu lead the world in the 'happy planet index' followed by south america, western nations fared badly in happiness terms.

Also depression is a luxury of the west, poorer countries can't afford self pity and depression weather in terms of time or personal resources.

Every country has a criteria for whoch they measure suicide. Many countries believe suicide is a sin and therefore are unlikely to apportion that sin to the unfortunate victim. These countries have very little recorded suicide.

When a country says suicide is a crime, the criminal, being dead cannot be prosecuted bor defend themselves, so this will not be recorded as a crime.

Some countries have different names for various types of death, including accidental death, misadventure and 'not proved' crimes. recordings of suicides are lower in these countries.

So all in all, you cannot use the recorded suicides accurately.

suicides happen due to loss of inner peace, in so called developed countries material comfort only exists which can not give peace, only mutual trust and respect can give long lasting peace.

People ran out of real problems like basic survival so they kill themselves over non-problems. I agree with you. Though I feel I'm not yet affected by it. I think muslims and religious american conservatives could see eye to eye more. We are very similiar.
