Geoff Heenan (England). 17 Matches, 15 catches, 15 stumpings.

Alan Knott - England
n the ten years up to the Packer-split in 1977, Alan Knott played in 89 of England's 93 Tests - nearly 20 more than any other Englishman - and hardly missed a chance that anyone remembers. Yet to see his wicketkeeping at its most spectacular, you had to catch him standing up to Derek Underwood on a rain-affected pitch for Kent in county cricket. Underwood, left-hand, whose stock ball was about the pace of Shane Warne's flipper, habitually bowled even quicker when a crusting pitch not only added to his spin but could produce a variation of two feet or more in bounce. Most of the time, despite the obvious problems, Knott would take the ball so nimbly he might have been keeping wicket in the indoor nets. As a batsman he learned to put a high price on his wicket, and in only his fourth Test, at Georgetown in 1967-68, he made 73 not out in four hours and helped Colin Cowdrey save the series. He could attack or defend with equal skill as the position of the match demanded: with five Test hundreds to his name, he was a genuine all rounder. Never one to push himself, in or out of cricket company, he was always nevertheless among the best-liked players in the game.

If you see the present wicket keepers, You will observe that many are hitters.

For Eg. Dhoni.

A wicket keeper is a player that should perform his task perfectly. I mean that he should be perfect behind the wickets. Not only keeping well behind the wickets but also the keeper should perform well with the bat.

I am an Indian and I like MS Dhoni's aggressive batting. Though I like his batting, I can say that Adam Gilchrist is one of the best Wicket Keepers in the history of cricket.

I can even say that he is the best. He can do it with the bat nicely and fields very well and spectacularily he can catch the ball going to the first slip also. There are many occations when he got to the 2nd slip and got many good catches. If the batsman edges the ball then it is sure that A Gilchrist has the maximum probability to catch the ball.

For a wicket keeper, the important thing is to keep well besides batting well. This is an essential character of a wicket keeper.

Considering the above views, It can easily be stated that Adam Gilchrist is the best Wicket Keeper in the world.

Hope you like and understood my views.
