My mind is constantly racing and I seem to have the best ideas and inspiration before I go to bed, and when I wake up I am constantly tired because I've stayed up late. How can I break the cycle effectively? It is so frustrating and I know it is going to affect my performance at work.

Do the following and you will fall asleep in no time.

Lie down on your back with both your arms to your side kept limp and close your eyes.

Take a deep breath...Do this 3 times.

From the 4th breath onwards,breathe normally..no deep inhalation,ok?

Now start counting backwards from 100 onwards...Remember,you will make the count at each exhalation and not inhalation. Tell yourself some number, any number will do and that you will fall asleep before you reach that number. But be realistic and give urself some number like say,50 or 35..

You will fall asleep before you reach that number. In fact, you will not even remember at which number you stopped before you fell asleep.

Try it and let me know if it helps. This is what I do when am unable to get sleep.

If I think in positive, you can start writing down all your ideas and inspiration which can be a book of inspiration some days later, any way take a walk or jog for at least 30 minutes before going to bed then take shower with warm water take a cup of milk or mango juice and then go to to sleep..

Try establishing a wind-down pattern where you slowly relax in the hours before bed. Maybe drink somethin hot (without caffeine) and abstain from excessively stimulating activities like watching TV that might get your mind racing. Maybe you should ask a Dr. about a prescription sleep aid.

Do some form of exercise that requires endurance, example: jogging, running, bicyling, aerobics....take a nice hot shower...or sit in the hot tub for 15 minutes...

Grab a glass of milk....2 tylenol PMS.....and go to BED....RELAX...

try getting up at the same hour every morning even weekends, also you could see a doctor, maybe something he or she can do. you can try to tire yourself out like good sex with a partner or just have it with yourself which if you dont have a steady partner would be the best and safest way to go.
