That is exactly what the point of the movie "Pay it Foward" was. Check out the movie! It's great! I think giving also ensure you're recieving because it feels good to give and therefore by helping or giving to someone else you have also given to yourself! :)

there is one more saying . give & take. isn't it ? when u have to give something there should be a taker also isn't it ?we invite people for some function say a birthday or a wedding etc. why do we feed them ? it iis also a kind of giving. they give us gifts. that is called human relationship. giving & taking need nod be in the form of materials.mother gives milk to the child. the child drinks the milk & gives a beautiful smile to its mother.don't u think there is give & take there ?human relationship is based on that. whenever u give something there should be a taker. & whenever u become the taker ther should be a giver .yes, we should give than we recieve. that is morally good.

I'm in a state of confusion most of the time. This is fairly straight forward though I think. We are all part of the circle in one way or another and you do seem to get back what you put in. I'd rather give things away than get them, it gives me great pleasure; so I benefit as well with each thing I present to another. Works for me!

The saying is only for you. It is better to give than to receive. If the person you gave something to doesn't give in response to your giving even to give to someone else - it should not be your problem because the joy of giving is lost to them unlike you who has already enjoyed giving to other people. Its not your loss, its their loss.

It's just a figure of speech! If I was to give you a present right now,and you gave it back to me,or gave it to someone else,I would be insulted and think you are very rude and self-centered.

Don't read into things more than you need too, because that would cause a great deal of confusion.

That saying,in my opinion,is saying to not be greedy...like I said, don't read into things more than you need too..

nice sentiment and i totally agree it is better to give than receive
and hopefully in giving someone something with no ties or expectancies , that person may also give to others as you have done to them .. not the same actual gift ... but the gift of giving

Some people are miser. No matter the amount of gifts u give out, they find it difficult to give out to others . That's their nature. It' s bad.
