aromatherapy oils burning in an oil burner, send out a great smell.

My favourites are bergamot and rose geranium.

Lavender is very relaxing.....

Ginger and lime give zing....
Don't use any more drops than recommended though as too much can give you a headache.

Try not masking smells with other smells, you only create a new formula of scents. Remember, things that burn leave some kind of residual on everything. If you own to home, consider using a heat treatment to treat bug infestations, instead of chemicals. There are companies that will raise the internal temperature to 200 degrees, causing the wood frame to reach 160 degrees. This kills off bugs, as well as mold and mildew, and does not harm the house. You will have a dry, very clean house, to start over with.

Here is a simple, inexpensive "trick" that I used when selling my house to make it smell really good.

Take some spices, cinnamon, apple pie spice, etc, put them in a pot of water on the stove, and set to simmer. Remember to check the water periodically so as not to burn.

It made the whole house smell great. Everyone always thought I was "baking" something yummy!

The candles that burn to liquid, only release the fragrance in the area where the candle is, and they only last for a couple of hours. Would not recommend them!

Lavender in pots set in a room also leave a nice, "calming" fragrance.

Good Luck.

You need to get a lysol air filter if you have central air... a little pricey but VERY worth it. I use candles al the time. I smoke but not through out my home. I have an inside pet that gets a bath twice a week and four children ages 17 to 9. My house smells wonderful. I use clorox clean- to mop the floors and replaced the carpet with tile....carpet is nasty and holds odors.

If you can plant a few potted flowers or herbs at home it should be good enough. Inhaling too much of those scented candles or incense is not very good for our sense of smell. That said, avoid smoking inside your house. Keep the house clean. No overloading your place with newspaper, laundry etc.

My favorite is,,go to the local department store and buy a bag of scented pine cones,,my favorite is the cinnamon..put these in your registers and it will make your whole house smell wonderful. This will last a little while depending on the size of your house..it maybe strong at first or you may want to adjust how many you use in one vent...hope you like my idea.....i have done his for years..when the heat or the air is on it will carry the fragrance through out the house

You can try the following off-the-shelf products:

1. Glade Fresh-matic (lasts up to 60 days)
2. Glade Gel
3. Lysol aerosol sprays (i prefer Spa Fresh)

You can try the following au-naturale method:
1. A bowl of potpurri in every other corner/table of the house

Candles require more care and can become potentially dangerous, especially if you have kids in the house.

As long as everything in your house is clean, unbugged and dusted, it will smell clean all the time. For added scents, try a vanilla scented candle or cinnamon oil if you prefer liquid scents you burn over a small tea light.

Regular airing of the space will maintain the freshness. Also, use nice smelling detergents for floors, carpets, upholstery and laundry. Repetitive usage will maintain a good smell for the space.

Regular cleaning will also make it smell good. Dust can absorb any good smell you try to spray or use. Dust removal will help maintaining the good smells you are applying.

get rid of the cat, stop cooking chitterlings or any deep frying, then wash all the drapes and all the items in the closets, then wash the walls and windows and finally clean all your upholstry and carpeting.

After that, don't smoke in the house and always try to keep a window or 2 open a crack.

Whew, I'm pooped!
Hey, can I bum a cigarette off ya?
