If you are trying to learn the business side of Landscaping on Yahoo Answers my friend you are in serious trouble. You'll be in another profession-soon enough.

Go find a mentor, CPA, and lawyer, get a business plan, learn about overhead, cost, taxes,material cost, labor rate, profit percentage, . . . . . . . .

Are you licensed and insured? If so, read on. Usually you have to submit a sealed bid. You just want to try to be reasonable. Do you know your competition's rates? Try to bid lower but don't do it for free. The company will accept the lowest bid, keep in mind though, they do consider references and experience.

normally get the cost of purchasing those items then add 40% on top of total cost as your labor fee. You'll have an idea if you can give your clients a discount or freebies on top of these two items.
