in today's society, it's very prevelant, that women's groups, gay rights, and even religious groups are seeking equal rights under the law.
While the law is up for interpertation by activist judges, people suffer for their faith, their belief, and even, for their lives.
Why is it, when they call it equal rights, it's never equal? If the one lady gets to play in the PGA, Michelle Wie, why can't Tiger Woods go play in the LPGA?
Or, why can't Michael Jordan go play in the WNBA?
Or why can't women play in baseball?
Or, why can't we distribute bibles in school, but native americans can put up symbols, and wiccans have covens, and they can teach mythology?
In affirmative action, people are picked not due to skill, but due to minority status, locking out a whole class of workers.
And even rights are stomped, at home, when a divorce happens, no matter how bad mom is, dad 9 times out of 10 won't get to keep the kids.
This should be a fun topic....let's have at it!

This is such a hot topic these days. I don't think that equality can ever truly happen. If we make it equal for one group of people, then it will be unfair for another group of people. Women will never be equal to men, if they are given special treatment in some work environments. No one will be treated fairly in child custody rights because... the other side won. So on and so on. Gays will never be treated equal because to pass a law to do so would give the person who created it the fear of not being re-elected. Religion? Race? Sex? Custody?
As for affirmative action... it's works well for some people.... it doesn't for others.
Every law has it's upsides and downfalls.

It is sad to say this but the truth is people are not equal. Some are smarter, some are more artistic, some stronger, some are bigger and stronger, some are bigger stronger and smarter, some are bigger stronger smarter and more atrtistic, some are more articulate, some are better with numbers, and some are all of these. This just barely starts to scratch the surface!
With such a wide range just how do you make a law so all get to be equal. I know things can be improved a whole lot. Equal may be impossible. How do make it eqaul between the stupid and very smart? It just can't be done!

I can not even begin to vocalize an opinion to this subject even though I think about it all the time. It would take days of discussion to fully state how I feel on this subject, but you are correct in your observations, and no-one who is elected to their position will bring it up due to not being elected a next term. Let's not do what is right, let's do what is popular!

I believe it all begins with.......
Misinterpretation of the Judeo-Christian Bible... and, blaming women for men's sins, too. Like men had nothing to do with the desire to be equals with God?
And, because men continue to blame women for most of the world's ills...
And, because we have a bunch of people running around pretending to be smart - making decisions for the U.S.A, and the world, without knowing what the heck they are really doing... and, the ultimate results of their actions.are the deaths of thousands of people!
If you want to distribute Bibles in schools... are you willing to distribute ALL Bibles in school, or just YOUR Bible? And, if prayer in school is allowed, is ALL prayer going to be allowed, and when would there be time for studies, and classes of education? And, who would decide all of the above? YOU? ME? Who?
And, how would such decisions be biased? If biased, can they be FAIR?
And, most women historically raise young children until they attain a certain age - considered to be mature enough to make healthy decisions for themselves; like, not to touch a hot stove - eat before leaving the house in the morning, wearing appropriate clothing before going outdoors, and keeping themselves safe, after leaving the house.
It seems the majority of males (in the U.S.A.) are unable, unwilling, or lack nurturing skills to ensure all the above, for their children.

Equal rights is only on paper, the application is usually distorted by technicalities and subject to different interpretations in favor of those in power and the rich.

I considered giving you a few minutes of my times and explaining the values of affirmative action; but, I think you are too pre-biased.

Equality is an ideal. The world is not perfect and thus perfect ideals can never fully be realised.

If you treat all equal - you are bound to treat some unequal because all are different. To treat all equal you must recognise the different needs all have.
