i have had an average of 8-9 drinks a night and smoked 2 packs a day for the last 2 years, and all during my pregnancy. I am an addict i guess.... I dont know for sure who the father is, and i cant explain this problem to any medical or psychological professional b/c then my insurance rate will go up. i cant explain it to my family either b/c they abandoned me when i turned 18. I need some advice i just now got the drunken courage to ask. Do you really think the baby might turn out with any kind of birth defect or is all this "dont drink dont smoke" stuff a bunch of false myths? O i also smoke marijuana every weekend.

LOL! The good news is, you've apparently cleared up the problem you were asking about re: your penis size in your Enzyte post! Props to you - instead of the "ultimate spam mail" found on comedy websites, you've created the ultimate Yahoo Answers question. LOL thanks for the laugh! ;)

Are you trying to get a rise out of people here with that story? You already know what people will say and you know yourself that boozing and smoking is bad for the child, yet you did it anyway.

So what exactly is your question? Can anyone here foresee the future? Do you want someone to say hey.. it's all good.. keep boozing or what?

You'll find out in a couple of months what the effects are and I hope that you get your act together now. Quit the booze and lay off the weed. Reduce nicotine to 15 cigs a day, no more. Too late to quit cold turkey.

I hope you'll be a better mother to your child when it's born than you have been so far. You've produced this child. The child didn't produce itself, so the responsibility is yours. If your child did suffer from your behavior, you'll have the pleasure of explaining your behavior in about 20 years to that person. Good luck.

i don't think any of that stuff people say about don't smoke or drink or smoke marijuana isn't true. cuz i know it is! hello didn't they teach you ne thing in health class. i know they taught me very well! but please if not for yourself then just atleast stop drinking/smoking while your pregnant. do it for the child. it would be a miracle if your baby even survives birth. please stop all that stuff. you can cause premature labor and can make the baby not develope as well as a normal baby you know its lungs and stuff so go check out some websites about this. but i really hope you stop. you know you can do all that stuff when your not pregnant. so you only have a few more months. also the baby didn't do anything wrong it doesn't deserve this. so if you care about it that much you can still stop now and have a chance of having a totally healthy child. just think about it. Good Luck!!! and i pray for that baby.

Yes, you are damaging your baby. Babies whose mothers smoke and drink are at higher risk for fetal alcohol syndrome, which may result in mental and/or physical retardation and defects. Smoking also will decrease your baby's lung function. I don't even want to guess what smoking marijuana is doing. You really should stop, talk to a OB?GYN and get some help, if not for you, but for the child inside. And if you don't you run the risk of getting your baby taken away from you and placed into foster care. Please get help, and don't be afraid of judgment from others, because people will want to help you more than anything.

i am sorry to hear your story. this must be very though to have problems in life. but neing mother is very different challenge. it has power and weakness in it! when you become a mother, you feel the power to burn whole world for your little angel.. and feel the big weakness to fight against whole world when your angel is some kind of ill.

this is your life. you choose how to live it. you might have a healthy baby at the end. but if this is not the case, you might end up with a disabled baby which will be in your life/mind until your last breath on earth.

you know, on earth, there are millions of women who don't have a change even to get pregnant. please take the baby as a gift from life. be a real mother. burn the whole world for your baby. forget about the past. be strong and fight against you. take care of yourself, eat and drink healthy. at the end, i hope you will have a healthy baby, and when years are passed away, you will tell everyone that you are a real mother.

beleive me, every sacrifice from personal life worth for a baby.

if you need any personal support, just send me an email. i'll be my best to support you.

The same thing happened to my friend but as soon as she found out she was pregnant she quit right away. She has a happy and healthy baby now. Stay away from second hand smoke also. Go to the doctor's too so they can make sure the baby is healthy.

omg i feel so bad for your baby. the dont drink and dont smoke stuff is not a myth its true. you baby will have problems and i really hope it doesnt. you should stop doing that right away. becuz every puff you take is like your baby taking a puff right along with you. every drink you have is like giving beer to your baby. just think about that and you'll change your mind about doing that stuff every night while being pregnant.

since i'm no doctor, i can't say if there will or won't be defects for sure, but i will say that you should try your hardest to stop the drinking. i'm pretty sure that if you stop drinking, it will help you cut down on the cigs.
don't do it just for your baby's sake, but for you also! i think you should talk to a doctor about this even if your rates go up, it's for you and your baby's benefit. if you are really addicted to it then you're going to need help with slowing down and/or eventually quitting.
so please, talk to someone who can really help you..not a messageboard where any idiot (no offense to anyone, but i've seen some dumb answers up here..) can give you bad advice.

While I applaud you for realizing this is a problem, I encourage you to either quit immediately or give the baby up for adoption. You are obviously not in any condition to give proper care to the child.
