The original Land Rover was a sort-of pickup, and that was introduced in 1948. There would have been larger vehicles with pick-up or flat-bed backs long before then (heavy trucks, some steam powered) - indeed I suppose many horse-drawn carts were effectively pickups without the engine.
In the 1960s there were pick-up versions of the Morris Minor and the Mini.
