If the u/s shows a boy, it's pretty likely to be correct. It's hard to mistake a penis for something else. However, if it looks like a girl, it could still be a boy, if the penis is tucked under him. I think the experience of the person reading the u/s is the main factor... a novice might make a mistake but someone who is doing it for a while should be pretty accurate about the baby being a boy.
I'd go buy a few boy things, just because you can, but keep those receipts just in case you end up needing pink instead of blue.
Congrats and good luck!

My friend was told she was having a girl up until the day of delivery, but when the doctor said go for ultrasound just to check the position of the baby, they found out its a boy...

Nothing is accurate unless it is out of the womb.

Or you can go for the 3d / 4d ultrasound which seems to be more realistic, but very expensive.

I'm now 26 weeks and cannot determine the gender yet despite monthly ultrasounds. I bought whites, greens and browns just to be safe on the colors... Don't buy baby stuff yet.

My ultrasound was at 16 weeks that said I was having a boy as well - and it was obvious in the ultrasound - 26 weeks later - we had a boy!

I think it's still too early to buy boy things. The best time to but things is on your 7th month. When I was pregnant I waited for the last ultrasound (which was 7 mos almost 8 b4 I found out what my baby would be). Unless of course if they're using the most advanced one.

An ultrasound can degree the toddler and inform you precisely how far alongside the toddler is. they're very precise around a undeniable type of weeks yet ought to tell you definatly in case you're extra like sixteen weeks or 20 weeks! good success!

Don't count on the sex of your child. Our second was suppose to have been a boy, ends up she was a Tom-Boy. This was in a military hospital at that time, since then we had 2 other girls (4 in all) trying to have a boy. Needless to say, we quit. Don't rely on the ultrasound, or the medical professional who read the film.

I'd hold of a little on buying the boy clothes. Just to be sure. But, I know, you just get these urges to buy baby clothes. I know I did, lol. You could always go ahead and buy clothes, but in neutral colors. Like pale green and yellows. Also, girls can wear blue! So if you want to buy the straight forward boy clothes, I'd wait a while so I was sure it was a boy. But,if you're for the greens and yellows, go ahead and buy some! Congratulations!!

Actually, Contradicting much of what many are saying. The lovely doc that I had told me when I requested a Late Term UltraSound is that the bigger the baby, the harder to see the goods. When baby gets bigger in the womb, the legs and stuff get cramped making it hard to see in that tiny place.

Go with your gut and maybe an oldwives tale of heartbeat speed. I always knew deep down that mine was a girl and thats exactly how she came out.

They are wrong about 20% of the time. Which makes it 80% correct.

My daughter just had a baby not long ago and I was there when we saw the firt ultra soud and it definatly looked like a girl.
We bougt tons of little girl thrings. When the baby was born, we said isn't she pretty, until we saw the boy parts. It was so exciting

I know with both my pregnancies the tech was right both times. It's not common that they are mistaken though I have heard of two ppl who wrong results were given to.My advice go shopping for your son....save all your receipts!!And wait until your next ultrasound to do the nursery!!This way you won't have a major redo to worry about.Congratulations!!!!
