I am willing to bet you are not talking about yourself, but about someone you know, or old people you see aorund, and you are assuming that they are now "useless".

Such is not the case!! Far from it!! The experience of many long years of life is so profound, sit down and listen to some older person talk sometime, even one in a retirement center or a nursing home.

Also, for those who are religious, they will continue praying for all the people they love and the world around them until the moment they pass away, even those who appear not to have their wits about them. And prayers really do wonders ... you have no idea what is taking place (or being prevented) in your life because of someone elses prayers!!

And ... even for those who end up with alzheimers, and perhaps ARE a burden on the family towards the end .... do they not deserve the same love, care, attention, and nurturing they gave YOU or other family members when you were "useless" as a child?

I have never ever found anyone who was useless, not even people on their deathbeds, whatever age, or those who are invalids or severely disabled.

As long as we live, there will always be duties and responsibilities. We just have to find them.

If you know how to die, you know how to live. I don't think being a burden to others means we are no longer useful. Why do you think they take care of you? They care because your mere presence makes them happy and motivated. How easy a duty is that!?
