Pain killers will help. But make sure she gets good physical therapy for the rest of the body (massage etc.). An old person lying in bed for prolonged period is prone to get pneumonia, and that is often fatal in old age. She may die not because of the fracture, but of pneumonia!

You mention it is a hairline fracture, that means it has been diagnosed by a doctor looking at an X-ray... right??
There are many types of hip fracture. It may be through the neck of the femur or in the shaft. In maybe intra-trochanteric, what ever it is it will be very painful, but not serious enough to warrant surgery, otherwise she would be in hospital.
Bone pain from fractures and the subsequent bruising can be awful, particularly in the elderly. So strong analgesia is called for. You need to make an appointment with your Doctor and they may prescribe opiates such as morphine or something like Dihydrocodeine.

Get her a bottle of whisky. It's the only thing my gran took last year when she broke her femur (after she got out of hospital). You might want a bottle for yourself as well lol older women tend to get a bit grumpy(er) when they can't walk and have to rely on others for help.

wow that must hurt!
How about a "tens" machine -you can buy or hire them in boots now if you're in the uk.they are used by women in labour and i believe they are safe unless you have a pacemaker.
What about your gp?there should be special pain unit at your hospital too?your mother should not have to put up with this pain.what about reflexology?
pamper her ,bring her nice treats ,a film to watch or read to her.
kind regards for a speedy recovery..

it is your son's special day so please shop any undesirable thoughts bottled up today. you do no longer ought to like his new spouse yet i'm hoping you are able to a minimum of settle for her on your son's sake. you're putting him in an quite perplexing spot with the aid of showing your dislike for his spouse. in spite of everything he chosen her and he or she makes him happy and that i'm hoping that makes you happy. For a marriage recent on your son's first wedding ceremony (i assume this is his first) i in my view do think of $a hundred is somewhat much less high priced. i do no longer think of you need to get him funds although. Does he have a "desire checklist"? If no longer, attempt to place some mind's eye and attempt into finding a recent that they are in a position to the two use. oftentimes some thing for his or her residing house this is clever yet won't be some thing that they had placed funds into themselves. some super, sturdy high quality mattress sheets? an entire set of matching, sturdy high quality towels? a super, alluring replicate to entice close on the wall? A china cupboard? have they have been given any pastimes which you need to purchase some thing for? Like, are they into camping out so which you need to purchase drowsing bags for him, his spouse and his son? in case you won't be in a position of arise with something i think of a recent certificates is extra effectual than funds, yet make it for no less than a pair of hundred if it is not a considerable sacrifice for you. this is in basic terms my 2 cents. sturdy success!

Give her some weed to smoke, it will help a little.
If that is not enough, perhaps a line might help.
