i am 17 years old and i live in california but want to finish my senior year of high school in texas. does anyone know the law on this?? please help.

Depends on what state. In some states you can live on your own at the age of 16 as long as you have a job. IE, North Carolina has that law.

Yes, with parental consent you can move out. But who ever you will be staying with will need some kind of paper giving them guardianship of you for such things as medical emergencies and doctor visits. You are under 18, and can not make those decisions on your own unless you become emancipated.
Seeing as Texas is not just a few minutes away, having a guardian is very important. Your parents can't make medical releases over the telephone with an emergency room doctor.

You can move out because it is consented to by your parents. The reason is for education and it is valid.
