Whenever I plug my iPod Nano into the computer, my iTunes doesn't recognize that it's connected. When I look at the iPod screen it says Do not Disconnect, as if it were charging, yet it stays like that for hours, as if it's never done charging. My sister's iPod Shuffle works perfectly fine, the iTunes recognizes it and she can add songs to hers. I'm going to college, so I need to learn how to use my iPod and iTunes before I leave home. Help!

Make sure you have the correct (or rather lastest) version of iTunes. Do you have a Mac or PC?

Was your computer the first computer that you connected your iPod to or did you do it at a friends house or something because that can make a difference sometimes.
Also, make sure you eject it properly and not just unplug the USB.
