Revlon Colorstay has been the best I've tried. It's about $8-12, but it's worth it. They claim to last 10 days and it does. It comes with a bottle of color and a bottle of top coat. I think the secret behind this polish is that it contains acrylic, which is strong and chip resistant, just like when women get those thick long acrylic tips done at the salon.

I'm also quite an OPI fan, which is like $7. It goes on pretty smooth and lasts good. This brand and Essie polish are the absolute top recommended nail polish brands by beauty professionals. I haven't tried Essie, but I noticed they use both these brands in most salons. Essie is about the same price as OPI or just couple bucks more.

No matter what brand you're using, make sure you've washed your nails with soap before polishing so that there's no oil or other residue on them that will prevent polish from adhereing well. Also make sure that they're dry. Try not to polish onto the cuticle because air and oil can get stuck under there which will cause it to chip or peel away. Always apply top coat because it does a lot to prevent chipping and it makes home manicures look more like professional. The shine factor makes or breaks it.

About clumping, this can be caused by polish that has thickened due to its old age or being a quick dry polish. Unless you're real quick and good with painting your nails, I wouldn't recommend quick dry polish because after a couple of strokes on the same nail, it gets goopy and difficult to smooth out. To save your old thick nail polishes, you can buy nail polish thinner at the beauty supply store.

Lancome Triple Tenue

The BEST nail polish that I've ever used is Lancome. In order to have it LAST, you should also buy the "topcoat-fast-dry" that they sell. It's clear, and it does just what the name says. I've tried all the kinds they make, and to get it to last, you have to use some kind of topcoat. They all make the topcoat, but Lancome is still No.#1 in my opinion. It's pricey, but it's good!! Good Luck!!

I have found that The Body Shop do a great range of Nail colours and they stay on for at least 5 days without chipping, they are formulated without formaldehyde, toluene, DBP or phthalate which is better for the environment too! If you are in England they are only £6.00 per bottle too!! I have a lovely summer colour on my toes which is butterfly orange, everyone comments on how nice it is!

Better for the planet, better for you!!

Opi. I've tried high end brands like lancome and christian dior and Jessica and they always come off within a couple of days. Opi lasts and can look good even with just one coat.

I take mine in brand-x I believe they come in colors, I first clean my the nails with a Q-tip and alcohol. Dip the Q-tip in the alcohol solution and apply on the nail for about 2ice per nail let it dry then apply your favorite polish.
