I can't seem to find any information regarding whether the protests actually had any effect or not.

Probably not, because France is larger than that and the protests were really scattered and not really disruptive or noticeable. Plus young people are never really taken seriously unless they use extreme violence. The CPE bill was probably overthrown because the people in Parliament who introduced it weren't that popular anyway and did not have the clout to pass it. Sometimes people introduce laws just to get their Party some media attention. The conflict between old governments and antiquated laws and the new global technological world rages on.
