You're just going to have to suck it up and hit it with the flat end of a shoe. Make sure that it doesn't have a lot of treds on it or the bug might get stuck in the cracks and not get squished like it should. You can hold the shoe in your hand or do it while you are wearing the biggest, clunkiest shoe / boot your have. Put on long pants and tuck it into your socks so you don't freak out about it crawling up your leg. It won't.... But, if you are scared it might help to know that it's not getting on your skin. It will try to run away and go hide in a corner or behind / under something. There's a decent chance that it has gone away from now and back from wherever it originally came from. Just make sure that you go tomorrow to get some traps and put them behind your toilet, under your sink, behind your fridge, etc. Somewhere inaccessible to children and pets (even if you don't have any). Then make sure that you NEVER leave out any food waste or dirty dishes. Take out your food waste EVERY NIGHT or put it in a bag / bin in your fridge until you take it out. Be careful of bathroom trash as well. Some bugs are keen on human waste like snot and menstrual fluid. Gross, but true. At my mom's house the ants would go crazy if you left a menstrual pad in the trash can. Likewise, don't leave your pet's food out. Insects can dig on that as well. If you are in an apt it's hard to control what your neighbors do. Apt buildings / complexes are breeding grounds for roaches .... not just because some of your neighbors might not be as clean and diligent as you are, but also because of the big trash recipticals. Best you can do is to take care of your space and suck it up and kill the bastards if you find them wandering in your appt. Incidentally I'd flush them down the lew just in case you haven't completely killed the buggers with your smashing. Just pick them up with a tissue or paper towel so you don't have to touch them. Good luck, honey!!!! And just remember that they won't hurt you and they are a billion times more freaked out by you then you are of them!!!!

If you kill it with a shoe, you MUST wipe alchoal on the bottom of the shoe, and on the roach. Because if the roach is a female, her eggs could be on the shoe and still live. A baby roach could grow to a huge roach in a month when its born.Use a simple solution of soap and water. This, to some, is the easiest thing to do. Just make a light solution of soap (bath soap is fine) and water. You can splash this, spray this or just throw this on the roach. Just a little water will do, even 2 or 3 drops can kill, if used effectively. Ensure that it makes contact with the roaches head and lower abdomen (its belly if you can turn the roach over). The roach will run or try to run, but will suddenly stop and die or be almost dead in one minute. It is best to throw it out as soon as possible, as it may revive. This happens because the roach breathes through its skin. The soapy water forms a thin film on the breathing pores, and effectively blocks to where it suffocates.

If you have a canister type vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment, just vacuum it up...less messy that way.
After vacuuming, spray some insect or roach spray up the nozzle while it's running and that will take care of Mr. roach.
While you're at it, you better look around for his friends and family.

See if a male neighbor will do it, just take a big shoes to it. Bug spary might not kill it, they are tough little buggers. 2 inches inst too bad, actually.

And, sweetie? They get out of ANYTHING, chances are if you dont get it now, it'll run and come back to scare you later. Get it FAST! That towel wont keep it long, and there are always cracks in the house it'll travel through.

I hate roaches and spider and anything else that is 100's of times smaller than me but makes me fear for my life. You can use hairspray or just throw stuff at it. I just had to kill two big wolf spiders at my front door. I think they were looking for their mom and dad that we killed last month (like the size of your fist!). I threw an empty shoe box at the momma and knocked her out, didn't kill her, I swear it knocked her out.

Anyways, kill that thing before it comes into your room while you sleep.

Huge shoe.

You could actually try a roach spray, but it will run and I'm sure you're a screamer and will wake up the entire neighborhood, so no, don't try it.

Catch it and send it to me for further studies.

Just kidding. You need night vision goggles, when it comes out------> totally take a shoe to it's big, fat, juicy body! Then take a deep breath and say "Thank goodness that's over..."

....Then wait for all of it's brother's, sister's, aunt's, uncle's, and basically any other family member to come out. When there's one, there's a million more. Sorry!

In the South, were we know a lot about bugs, they say that you have to use boric acid and it will kill the roach.

Hit it with a shoe. When you hear the "crunch" like frosted flakes, you know he's dead. Just don't put him on your cereal in the morning.

Is your interview with an exterminator by any chance? If so, you may want to reconsider.
