You could drive it except the red fluid that came out is transmission fluid, which you need to make the transmission work. Driving could be done if you buy a transmission plug for the transfer case, where you removed the driveshaft. short term fix, only to get home. will steer funny in4 hi but it can be done. make sure you re-fill transfercase /transmission

For god sake reseal your transfer case and put your drive shaft back in. Sounds like your transfer case takes regular transmission fluid instead of gear oil. Don't try driving it without your rear driveshaft. If you run the transmission and or transfer case low on fluid you will burn up either on or both of them. An that is some serious bucks. Don't take this the wrong way or anything but if you don't know what you are doing then get it towed to a shop and let someone who knows how to work on it do the job. Because it very well could save you alot of money in the long run.
