I have a friend who manages to show me up just about everytime I go anywhere with him.He has no etiquette whatsoever and I am far from being a snob.He will park his car in a disabled only space whilst I'm in the passenger, and guess who gets the flack? He cuts ppl up in his car,if we go somewhere nice for food he will pester the staff constantly for a bigger helping etc.He will start talking football with people and he hasn't got the first clue about the game. He's good at attracting girls when we're out but then he walks off and leaves me talking to them. We've been close friends for 20 yrs. but now that i'm sober i'm looking at things differently. His motives are mainly selfish.Does anyone else feel like this?I can assure you i'm not petty,I'm just sick of him placing me in embarrassing and awkward situations!

Now that "you're sober" says it all. You've outgrown your friends antics and immature behavior. that happens to a lot of people. it's time to move on and find friends that respect you and that you have more in common with. i used to have a friend that was totally obnoxious. we grew up together and known one another since kindergarten, but she never matured and her attitude was terrible. i could never take her any where and when we did, she'd spoil it with her big mouth. i got tired of it and stopped including her in my life. One day we just parted ways and it was for the best. I saw her a few years ago at a shopping mall and she hadn't changed at all. Friends are supposed to enrich your life, not suck it out of you. Do yourself a favor...

Yes, I have a friend like that. Remember, not all people will judge you by the way he behaves but if it all gets too much and he starts to really grate on you like my friend did. Tell him, better than bottling it up and having a major barney with him. (unless thats what you want to happen so he's out of your life?)
