Kiwis and Australians are difficult to tell apart, but the two nations are not exactly the same as two states of one shared commonwealth. Each has their own unique history, character and indigenous culture as well as their own unique flora and fauna and environmental features.
The two nations are not brothers, but they are mates, held together by a bond that transcends national barriers and borders.Neither would want the other telling them how to run their affairs, which is how it should be for good mates.
The bond of mateship was forged on the battlefield and both nations hold Anzac Day sacred,
"Lest we forget!"

New Zealand would be much better off if we were a state of Australia - we are currently near the bottom of the OECD Economies and it would be nice to share in some of Australia's wealth, however the Australian's are not stupid. What would they want New Zealand for - all they would gain is a flagging economy, a country hung up on sports instead of work, and racial problems (including racial segregation) that our government does it's best to hide. Why do you think so many Kiwis live in Australia? If it weren't for family I'd be there now!

Because it's a seperate country to Australia. And it wouldn't be better for it to join with Australia. They have their own customs and traditions, it's a bad idea for any country to become a state of another, look at what happened in Ireland when England muscled in, there is still tension up the north.

When you speak of "state" I assume you are from the US and must answer your question by stating that unlike the US Australia is not an imperialistic nation.

New Zealand doesn't need to be part of Australia.
And if they did, we wouldn't be able to beat them at cricket or rugby :-)
If this was a 'trol', sorry, Aussies like Kiwis
