I'm a Psychology Student due to start my final year as an Undergraduate in September. I wish to become a Clinical Psychologist, preferably working with children. In order to achieve this I must get a 1st class degree, take two years out to work as a research assistant, then attempt to get onto a postgraduate Clinical Psychology Doctorate programme, which may prove to be fruitless, as they generally take people with ten years experience in the social services field.

My advice to you would be that Psychology is fascinating, but it's not the right field if you're interested in money only.

If you're looking for a job with intrinsic satisfaction, ask yourself your own preferences for a job and choose the area that best suits this. If you like children and you're a high achiever you may wish to be a Clinical Child Psychologist, if you like children but are not competitive, maybe Educational Psychology, if you want to work in business try Occupational Psych. If you want to take care of people and help them sort themselves out, then try counselling or clinical psych.

Clinical psych's a killer though. Just hope I can make the grade!!!

If you want to make money then you should do either Industrial Psychology or Clinical Psychology. Both programs are very hard to get, very competetive and takes 6-7 years after undergrad education to complete. The rest of psychology fields don't have any money attached to them.

there is not any longer something incorrect with reading something you want, yet psychology isn't precisely a route to a properly paying pastime. Or any pastime for that remember. Low wages, severe unemployment.

My suggestion is business psychology, I don't know if that is the exact name, but it is the field where you learn how to "read" the consumer for big businesses.
