mildew loves to grow on moisture. especially in a warm concealed place, that is your clothes in your washing machine. run the cycles once in a while with oxy-clean and bleach, it should kill all of the stuff in the wash tub.

I don't know but they really stink and then you have to wash them like two more times to get the smell out.

Ya I wore one by mistake once and it smelled like old cheddar cheese!

bacteria live in moisture. and when they in the water they become embedded in the fabric. they cause the odors. number one reason mildew.
