You could try your local 4-H or FFA branch, if you have one or just search 4-H or FFA (Future Farmers of America) and see what you come up with.

The best way to get in touch with a scientist who knows about farming is to be with him on field and ask questions when necessary. There is no better way than you taking interest in his field.

If you are in california get in touch with University of California Davis. (UCD) They have a number of programs focusing on agriculture since Davis is a town surrounded with farms. They also have a number of world famous professors in the field of farming.

visit your local government unit specifically the department of agriculture, am sure somebody can refer you to a scientist you need. good luck!
