I dont know, i hate it when they do though I think they are putting down the whole female race when they do. I think that they probably think that guys dig a girl who is less clever than themselves but guys like that are so male chauve anyway so why they bother I have no idea~!

Because they think that guys would not go for them but would rather go for the dumb ones.Also the media is putting the wrong messages out there, that dumb good and smart is bad. Just look at all the young celebs out there. They the more dumb the and sexy videos she is in the more famous they b come.

I think sometimes a girl thinks it's cute or endearing to act silly and dumb, when in fact she just looks stupid. Smart girls act smart and show their great sense of humor. Big difference between funny and ditzy.

Honey..if a "smart" girl is playing dumb..she isnt so smart after all..she may think it's cute now..and do it for attention..Later, when she matures a little, she will realize smart is forever, but you cant fix stupid!

It makes a guy feel smart.
It is amazing that a girl can twist her hair around her finger and bat her eyelashes and asks a guy an obvious question, that a guy can become totally entranced. Then once they get to know each other She hits him between the eyes with her brains.
And the guy is totally impressed.
A bit shallow
It is like a mating right between genders.

It makes them feel more secure about themselves. They like to feel like they arn't smart freaks when actually being smart is very appealing. They might want to do it do fit in because they're friends arn't exactly einteins... and they might feel too awkward being smart around people so they decide to degrade themselves to being dumb. many reasons. non very "smart" at all

They are downplaying their smartness to appear more earthly than heavenly!LOL.Maybe cos stereotypical views are often based on intellect and beauty doesnt go hand in hand.So eihter u are beautiful,or smart or if u are both,than u are just unapproachable!
