I think the show doesn't provide a positve image on daytime TV. They make it seem like black women are having all they're children out of wedlock.

Well I know that all the guest are of diffrent races. But it seems like there are more Black women on there and I think that brings' that "baby mama" sterotype back.

Because apparently, that's what people want to see. The way this topic is frequently repeated, it's obvious that it's a huge ratings draw.

As for the people on the show, I find it's more of a class issue, than a race issue. There are all kinds of minorities on these types of shows, ranging from latinas, to black women, and even some white women. The common denominator seems to be that they are all poor.

I'm assuming that the cost of getting a dna paternity test done can be more than some people can afford, and this is what makes them desperate enough to be exploited on national television in order to find out this important information.

It is such a shame to see these shows, because they make all of America look bad. Why do we enjoy watching desperation and degradation as entertainment?

You're right, it's not a positive image on TV and it definately can misrepresent the black female community.

However, I think it's more a statistical issue than some underlying issue of race. Unfortunately, the single mother statistic is higher for black women.

Nonetheless, Maury isn't doing anything to help it, only feeds the image that it's okay. But then again, Maury isn't really much to watch and learn from--it's full of drama and unecessary ones too that the world could do with them being settled privately.

Well, to be fair, it's not only black women that show up on there. There's a lot of them, yes, but they're not the only ones.

I think--no matter what race is on that stage--it's sad to see that there is so much of this going on in the country. He's been doing this kinds of shows for years...so that's alot of people.

The one thing I do wonder about on Maury...again, no matter what the race...why is it when the answer is not what the woman expected or wanted, she throws herself on the floor or runs off the stage, crashes into walls, and still throws herself on the floor? Is there something in the chair that causes so many women to do this? I mean, really, it's happened so darned many times I almost think it's phony. (Their reactions, I mean.)

Good question. It seems that way but He has whites and other races on there too. You are correct when you say it isn't providing a positive image. It's sad that some it shows too much drama and it seems sometimes to be not real at all. The women on there are an embarrassment to others by even putting themselves on national T.V. to air their private lives. Sad.

We are the only ones crazy enuff to put all our bizness out there like that. Most women get tests done in their states, not go on a show and cuss out men they slept with but dont know if they really are the child's father. I love watchin maury because I love watchin the women make a fool of themselves. screamin at the man that he is the father, and sh!t....and the test comes back negative. Then next week, she's back with 10 men!!!

I am a faithful watcher of Maury, although I think that much of the show is staged. The other day while watching, my ten year old son said ..."They sure have alot of black ladies on there when they do the daddy shows". I realized he was right. I have no idea why that is...? But I think you are right.

Did you watch the one with the lady who was on #9...People call in to get on the show, i dont think they can see what color they are. If you have watched Jerry Springer, i cant figure out where they find those folks, really bad actors i do believe. They are both just show and its what people want to see, i rarely watch them, only when im bored and theres nothing on the paid channels.

Its a tv show but you cant blame the producers. The people who go in there (which by the way i have always believe that they are just actors) shouldnt be part of this tv show.

I agree with you, its not a positive image.

give me a break,. a steroetype is based on truth. if a lot of people all exerience the same thing that is what brings about a stereotype.. so the fact you see so many black women on the show. well to me that seems pretty representative. you see that ALL the time. .. does it happen in other cultures sure. but you see a HUGE amount of that in the black community.. and many of them have 2-3 of them. its called keeping your legs closed.

no count if that's real and that i think of that's then why could human beings circulate on national television to embarrass themselves like that? this is trouble-free, the girls run off point because of the fact they're ashamed of themselves for being prevalent because of the fact the nasty female that has no admire for herself.
