After 9 years of infertility, hearing my baby's heartbeat for the first time was such an emotional moment...I too cried and even my husband got choked up. It had been a miracle for us. Fortunately, we heard it long before the 8th month...in fact, heard it only shortly before I delivered...at 28 weeks!

You are in your 8th month, and only just now heard the heartbeat for the first time? I'm guessing you've had no prenatal care? You need to be really careful, because there are a lot of things that can happen to you while pregnant that you don't even know is happening until it's too late.

When I had my first ultrasound, I was excited, but I was only 10 weeks along, so I didn't get to see what the baby's sex was. Then when it came time to do my 2nd one, I was hospitalized the day before for a severe kidney infection with a fever over 100 (which means you can go into premature labor). It was almost the end of my pregnancy before they had me go back in for my 2nd ultrasound, where I found out I was having a girl.

With my 2nd two kids, I found out at 14 weeks what my son was, and we decided to not find out with our 3rd, because we had 1 boy, and 1 girl. I wanted an actual surprise. So, when they did the ultrasound at 22 weeks that time, I just declined asking.

OMG!!! If you are already 8 months pregnant and barely having your first ultra sound or just barely hearing your baby's heartbeat, you need to get a different doctor!! You should hear your baby's heart beat at almost every appointment and had an ultra sound before now. And yes, it is the most absolute precious thing in the world to hear. As for your sister, good luck to her. She is very young but what's done is done and there is no way to change it now. Just love her and accept her. It will be a joy for both of you to have kids that can play with each other growing up. It is so much more fun when you have someone else to share the joy of mothering with.

Wow, I guess I was lucky. With both of my pregnancies, I heard the heartbeat almost every month (every doctor visit) from about the 3rd or 4th month.

I didn't cry with the first ultrasounds of either of my children. I think I was just overwhelmed to actually *see* them...just didn't know what to say or think or do.

Congratulations, I wish all the best to you and your baby. I s it boy or girl? Are you thinking about names?
About your sister, i am her age and i feel emotionally ready to have a child of my own, of course that's just a feeling and nth else, but i guess what i want to say is just because she is so young doesn't mean she wont be great mum, just like you. just be with her, support her, no matter what other people say and no matter child's father. It will be great for you as well as for her to share that beautiful experience with someone so close as sister. i wish one day to share that experience with one of my sisters (I have three). Good Luck!
