My earlier question was: "Who 'owned' Palestine before the Muslims? And why shouldn't that matter?
I received some great informed answers from other groups, but not one Muslim.
Muslims use ancient history frequently to establish authenticity. Why not in this case?

Curious - Microsoft has stopped supporting Arabic and Hebrew language in their Web Update section. Perhaps they can't answer? (tongue in cheek)

Who "owned" Palestine is a question like who "owned" Virginia before the English took it. That area of the world has been ruled by the Persians, by the Byzantines, by the Romans, by the Greeks, by the British, and has been a major trade crossroads and pivotal military and strategic area all the way back to Babylon, and maybe further.

Pretty much throughout history, the "owner" of Palestine has been those who had enough muscle to take it from who ruled it before. Today's events are nothing more than history repeating itself really - the "owner" will be the group or government that can outlast their opposition. Unfortunately for the average person who lives there, no one ever asks their opinion about rulers, or wars.

And by the way, the Europeans took away the lands of my own pre-Wiccan ancestors many years ago, and sent them to the Inquisition. Usually the winner writes the history. Think how different our history books would be if Germany and Japan had won WWII.

They do. Hamas, among others, claim that Umar, the second Caliph, gave "all of Palestine to the Muslims in waqf". Now if you don't know what a wakf/waqf is (it's a pious trust) then you won't follow their reasoning.

Of course how Umar (or Omar) could have done that when Christians and Jews were lliving there at the time is an open question. But followers of political Islam do not much worry about detail, or for that matter of finding written proofs.

And then there's the problem of Hezbollah being Shia-inspired. The Shiites do not recognize the authority of Umar.

One problem is that there is not, in fact, a Muslim concept of sovereignty or "Islamic land". Their idea is, instead, one of the "umma" or the community of Muslims. And never mind that there are groups within Islam or on its fringes whom they rejectg: Amadias, Druze... as well as splits within the umma.

Another is that discussion of islam by Muslims, except for parroting ancient doctrine, can lead to heresy and the punishment for blasphemy or apostasy, or perceived blasphemy or apostasy, is death. Most of the creative work on Islam is going on in the USA and in Germany. And some of the best (at Princeton and Jerusalem for example) is being done by Jews.

And the Romans took it away and gave it back to the descendants of the current Palestinians. I would have to say that directly before the formation of the Muslim religion that Palestinians occupied the land that is now Palestine and Israel.

If you believe Pat Roberts (the moron) then the Jews took the land of "Milk and Honey" form the Philistines and that they are the same people as the Palestinians.

Because the answer didn't say what they want it to say!!!
Do a goole search on UN resolutions, and the formation of Israel...the same resolution that created Israel would have created a Palestinian state but they didn't want it .....they wanted the land where Isreal was created, and nothing else! In addition there is no Palestine on the map, never has been......So the the State would have to be created the same as Israel, but they didn't want any place but the one that was given to Israel.

Because they really don't know history: They do not realize that God was the first Zionist: Because it was God who gave Israel to the Jew's to begin with.

Maybe it's high noon in the Middle East now, you know, prayer time. They might be on their mats facing Mecca as we 'speak', for all I know.
