I can relate to that, I think it's basically a sign of the times. With a net negative savings rate for the past 2 years in the USA it seems this is quite prevalent.
Most men basically want to please their wife so they do things against their better judgment. I know that they are quite a few men that are guilty of trying to look successful by buying stuff they really can't afford.
Generally, I think the current massive debt of our country and all the personal debt can be laid at the feet of women. If you look at the last 30 years the debt of the USA and individuals has soared while women have gained what they think is more control. That is a general statement as there are exceptions to every situation. There are some women who don't do that but the majority at the present time DO.
In my case when I said enough is enough the marriage broke down. So obviously I was being used, if it wasn't for my 4 kids I would have stopped it a long time ago. Was just trying to hold things together until the kids were out of the house.
Good luck to you,,,,, I feel your pain

You have been afflicted with the "Keeping Up With The Joneses Syndrome"
Quite a few women feel that when a man spends money on her, it is his way of showing love and devotion. SHe wants to be the housewife while the hubby works hard at his 6 figure salary job.
Women love to express themselves through a new house, a pricey car, a wardrobe closet as big as a bedroom, the hair the nails, designer clothes for the baby, yada yada yada. Naturally, the man has to foot the bill, after all, he makes a lot of money!
Your best bet is for both of you to go to financial planning and get your financial house in order. (I know, easier said than done)
By the way, the Joneses are having a hard time trying to keep up with themselves.

Women like that are obviously focused on whatever they can gain (material-wise).
They value material things more than they value their man.
I don't like being in debt... I'd rather live in a paid-for trailer than be in debt for a house in the suburbs, anyday.
We're moving into a trailer next week... out of this expensive house.
I prefer that we don't have all the stress that "keeping up with the jones's" can cause.
(find a woman who puts greater value on her man).

They dont want to put the bills in there name because they dont want to be left with the debt if u left or the other way around, they dont want it on there credit, because if they left it wouldnt on there credit, so that they can get things in there names, they are using you.

you can't buy happiness...If you can't afford it don't buy it..If she doesn't like this leave her...If she really loves you she will see the stress she is putting on you..and she will stop asking.. Talk to her about it..You want to be able to be debt free before you are old and gray..so you can enjoy life.
