for me its silly. i see i'm at level two and the tricky folks say "only ___ more points to level three!"

its the "!" that gets me. like level three is this suber uber utopia i need to be at. so i answer questions like crazy...i watch my points go up and my competitve nature kicks in. now i fear asking a question because it costs points. instead i put effort into answering questions just like this in the hopes of getting a best answer and 10 more points so i only have ___more points to get to level three!!

you know what will happen when i get there?

___more points to get you to level 4!

life is so mean.
we are so silly.

Hey I was just wondering that. A lot of people answer a billion questions but some haven't even asked any! Maybe it's because we like to think we are smart or right or helpful more, and we are so into that that we forget that others want to help too, and asking a question could give them that chance. :)

For me it is because people comment instead of answering, even when I'm not asking for comments. I ask a factual question that's not philosophical or relegious, and people post "I don't know" and idiotic nonsense like that. I think yahoo should allow you to take the points away from answerers who aren't actually answering the questions, like by choosing to delete your own question if it's not accurately answered takes everyones points away.

Because most of us are WAY more interested in our own opinions than in those of random strangers.

That's kind of the whole thing about the new participatory media. Everybody's an artist, everybody's a critic, everybody's a personality – so where the hell is the audience?

The reason being the human ego, By answering you want to feel like you know more than others while asking question mean you know little lesser than others thats why you are asking question.

It can be difficult to come up with a good answer, but it is greatly more difficult to come up with a really good question. Thus, most people feel much more comfortable answering questions than asking them.

I personally don't have many questions to ask... So I just answer questions until I come up with a question that I have yet to find.

Answering is availing knowledge to the "needy" whereas asking is considered knowledge seeking. People prefer showing their believed knowledge to ignorance.

Asking can be hard on a person. So many angry people out there who can't wait to call you stupid or dumb. Plus answering gives you the opportunity to tell other's how retarded their questions are.
