if your doctor tells you that the baby size is normal, i assume he has already done an ultrasound scan. A 9 week fetus usually has a crown rump length (measurement from one end to another, excluding the limbs) of about 2.5cm or so. If that is really the case, you would have suffered a miscarriage because the fetal heart beat can be detected on ultrasound as early as a 2 to 3mm baby.
However if you are referring to detection of the heart beat with a doptone or similar device, the heart beat may only be detected at a later stage.

It depends on how your doctor tried to detect the heartbeat.
If your doctor tried to see a heartbeat on an ultrasound, he should have been able to do that from 6 weeks onwards. I was able to see my baby's heartbeat on an ultrasound when I was 6 weeks pregnant. My baby was only 0.57cm big, but there was a small, flashing in the tiny blob I saw, that was her heartbeat.
Later on, when I was 9 weeks and 6 days pregnant, my baby was a lot bigger 2.5cm from crown to rump, if I remember correctly. A heartbeat was visable on that ultrasound as well.
If the baby was measuring correctly on an ultrasound, and it's heartbeat was not able to be detected, I would think that perhaps you had a missed miscarriage, not long ago. Your doctor may be able to confirm this, with a hCG quantitative blood test, that measures the amount of the pregnancy hormone in your system, over two days. If that level is slow rising, or if it is falling, I would say that I doubt your pregnancy is a viable one.
If your doctor was trying to detect a heartbeat on the fetal doppler, he is absolutely crazy. Most babies heartbeats aren't able to be heard on the doppler until the 12-14th week of pregnancy. I had a scare I was in the 14th week of my pregnancy, and my doctor tried to listen to my little girl's heartbeat. It took a long time, at least 5 minutes in order to locate the 'woosh, woosh, woosh' of it.

This happened to me as well... I was very concerned.. but it was because my baby liked to sit at the BACK of my stomach... Only an ULTRASOUND would find the heart beat for you at this point if the baby is facing the wrong way and it likes to sit far back like my baby did.. but not to worry.. soon the doctor will be able to find the heartbeat in a SNAP.. because baby will be so much bigger! Unless of course your uterus is positioned off or tilted.. or if your placenta is in the way.. etc...but not to worry the real signs at this stage is that you are growing and still FEEL pregnant. Take care and Good Luck

Yes it could happen.Usually the heartbeat can't be detected this early in pregnancy. I am surprised the Dr. did not mention this to you. In fact, They usually don't even attempt to listen for the heartbeat until at least 10 weeks. For most of my kids I was around 12 weeks.
I am sure everything is just fine.

Yes it is normal. Sometimes the baby plays hide and seek. It could also depend on your size and how the baby is positioned in the womb. Give it a few more weeks and I bet the Dr. finds it.
Congratulations.and Good luck.

How was he trying to detect the heartbeat? A heartbeat is visible with an ultrasound at around 6 weeks. If he was listening with a dopler, I would suggest getting a new doctor. A fetal heartbeat can't be heart with a dopler until around 12 weeks.

in case you've faith you're miscarrying you want to pass see your surgeon, the purely thanks to understand if you're is to have blood artwork executed over a set of a few days. in case your HCG ranges drop then it signifies that definite you're having a miscarriage. IF the surgeon did not look alarmed that your infant replaced into purely measuring 6 weeks, then i does no longer hardship too a lot (it isn't a nurses pastime to locate this). that is hard to from time to time make certain somewhat one's due date by way of the undeniable fact that is in accordance which includes your era. i replaced into instructed 2 diverse due dates by 2 diverse medical doctors and they were a month huge difference :- ) also at 6 weeks, from time to time there is not any longer heartbeat yet. purely search for extreme cramping or issues, clotting, or truly any bleeding in any respect might want to be appeared at by the surgeon...if there replaced into truly a danger of a miscarriage, the nurse must have already performed your blood artwork to understand for particular if that replaced into happening...detect a clean surgeon!

my doctor said it is normal to hear the heart beat around 12-14 weeks cause the baby is still so small. Don't worry about it if you can stop worrying ask your dr for an ulrasound.
