My bro ( 1 yr elder than me) and I are in the same class unfortunately. Don't ask y, it's a long story. We both get along well generally. But now we are both like competing against each other, not that we want to, just happens like that. I hate it coz I don't want to compete against him. If he gets better marks than me, I get upset and vice versa. Now I feel he's smarter than me and keep thinking that way. How can I stop that feeling?

hi this is a very common feeling between brother and sister especially if there isnt a very big age gap between them!!! and the fatc that you are in the same class just adds to this!!

i think the 1st thing you should do is ask yourself why am i competing against my brother??? why do i want to be better than him, why dont we work togeter and help each other we the other 1 lacks in skills to also do good in that subject, ex. you brother is better in say maths, and you in history...

now what i can suggest is that why dont you 2 start working together and help each other where the other 1 lacks in skills, u help him he helps you so instead competing and creating a vibe between you and him, after all he is family!!!

Now consirning you saying you hav a inferiotity comlex, the 1st step to stopping YOURSELF... is to stop thinking you are inferior!!! no one cans top it for you they can help but not stop it, you are not inferior to anyone every person is unique and is good in some field of activity be it sport or academics!!! so this is the advice i can give you today. PLZ let me know if this was any help to you by emailing me on battiboy_01@yahoo.com.

Regards

Reinard

It would help if you could teach someone something that you do well. Female primates are not geared to compete in the same ways that males do. There may be some genetic conditioning that makes you feel submissive to him because of the conflict between the two of you. If you can stomach it, you might feel better if you helped him out with studying or something. Or just offer to help. You could make an effort to bring out warm, affectionate feelings into situations that you share with him instead of letting resentment 'rule your heart'. It's an easy trick, just takes time to get used to. Think about a warm, happy, memory. Christmas with my family usually works for me. I concentrate on that feeling of warmth, affection, and acceptance, contain it within my body, and allow it to radiate from me like waves of heat. This really helps me control my feelings and has helped me turn negative situations around. containing it in your body is important because if you just build the feeling up and then dont ground it in your body, it could just float away. Remember to not take anything too seriously and have/find humor in life when possible.

Being different is not necessarily inferior. No one else has your brain so you are not quite like anyone else. Now if that is true, then why would you try to compare yourself to anyone else?

No one can know everything. So try to learn the basics of a lot of different things, like math, sciences, business, agriculture, philosophy, health, grammer, history and whatever. Then focus on the things that you like to learn.

The smart thing to do is to concentrate of learning, don't concentrate on being smart.

Tell you what, to have the smartest brain in the world is something, to be able to use your brain effectively is everything and that takes intelligence.

realize that you and your bro are two different people, and that you're gonna get higher grades sometimes, sometimes he's gonna get them. That's the way life is. and if you wrote the same answers... you would get called on for cheating. Also, if you want to get better grades than him, you're gonna be competing. I couldnt' tell if you wanted them or no, so I'm just throwing that out there. Good luck!

If you are a year younger than him and in the same class then you are obviously smarter than him. You are doing work above your grade level. If you want to feel superior help him with his homework. Helping anyone will make you stand tall. There is a saying "you never stand taller than when you stoop down to help a child".
