The colours are the French flag colours as mentioned.

But the H inside the C. Some people got that wrong.

The name is officially Le Club de Hockey Canadien since 1917. That C stands for Canada. AND that H inside the C will always stand for HOCKEY!! Feel free to read about the myth going back to 1924 that it stands for Habitants, or Habs in my first link.

Before 1917 when they became a founding member of the NHL, the name was Club Antique-Canadien. The logo had an A inside a C.

Quite simple, it represents the french flag ironicly. The blue-white-red, the colors of France.

Their French ancestory and they're really known as "Le Habitants de Montreal"... thus the H with the C.
