If it's green algae and goes away when you shock then just maintain a high chlorine level in the pool. Hard to do in this warm water, but still can be done with diligence. Double up on tabs and shock more frequently than normal until the heat lessens. Also, have the cyanuric acid level checked. A pool store can do that test for you.

we have the same problem. esp now during this heat wave. Test the water often for its alkalinity, and esp chlorine demands
run your filter pump on for longer hrs everyday esp during the summer say about 6 -8 hrs. putting in two gallons of chlorine
every week helps. or even freq. run the filter again after swimming. keep that water moving. open and clean the cartridges. make sure the sweep or vacuum cleaner works and clean off debris. I used to do that shocking bit and it didn't help. Utilizing a lot of chlorine and running the filter pump helped. Also you should have chlorine tablet in a floater so there's chlorine constantly in the water. Make sure the bathers take a shower before swimming helps cut down on the body oils. and indirectly, the bacteria-- algae . Acid solutions also help and the algae buster. Algae fix is very effective in clearing the fish pond off algae. I hope this helps. But remember no matter what you do you'll always have algae .Scrub the walls as soon as you see some yellowing before the algae settle prevent them from accumulating.

severe rain storms quickly dilute your pool chemicals as do excessive leaves or debris in your pool. as mentioned before maintain your alkalinity around 100ppm and your ph @ 7.6. if your ph is off use ph up or down. use sodium bicarbonate to increase your alkalinity. proper alkanlinity keeps your ph from bouncing up/down which allows your sanitizer to kill bacteria before it causes algae.i had to shock my pool today because we have had alot of rain in the past week!!

Clean your pump, or replace it. Clean your sand trap, or replace it. Maintain the Clorine levels properly.
You may have to drain the pool and have it cleaned thoroughly.
