I think I'm addicted to sugar. I like candy, and ice cream, and cake, and chocolates, and anything sugary more than the average person. Like today, I had ice cream and a piece of chocolate for breakfast, I had some cake, had more ice cream later, and frosted flakes for dinner. Any idea on how I can curb this?? I HATE water with a passion, unless it's flavored, and has some sugar in it.

Think of the consequences:
Toothaches
Cavities
Plaque build-up
High cholesterol +blood pressure
Health!!!
Try eating healthy, naturally flavored yogurts, fruits, smoothies, flaky pastries, granola bars (no chocolate, of course... maybe some raisins, berries, nuts)...
END THE CRAVING... give yourself a reward after progress has been made!
Hope this helps!

I use to love my sweets!! But I found you can find a substitute. For water I like lime or if you eat salty stuffs it's so easy to take. For desert I started eating fruits (natural sugars). The other things I just cut back on smaller portions. I just can't do without ice cream (^.^) Another thing that helps me is that I think about getting diabetes. I did some research and the pictures of the worst case stayed in my mind making sugar taste a little bad.

First of all, there could be an imbalance in your body. Go see your doctor.

Secondly, if you're looking for substitutes for soda, and Don't like water, I was able to start drinking more water by getting the six packs of flavored water. My fave is Dasani Strawberry. Fruit 2O has some to, but those have sodium, which is salt(it will only make you more thirsty).

another way to cut back is to think about why you eat so much sugar. is it only because you like the taste? or is it replacing something in your life like it's replacing the rest of the Daily Value of vitamins and minerals your body isn't getting? This could be something psychological. But of course, your primary doctor can help with that.

This does sound like an addiction...I suggest that you speak to your doctor...check to see if you've affected your health...diabetes or hypoglycemia can be side affects.,,it can affect people different ways.

You need to stop...and learn to eat in moderation...if you quit cold turkey...eventually you will notice that you will be able to detect smaller amounts of sugar..and won't need so much. But check with a doctor. There is nothing wrong with sugar in moderation..but if you can't control yourself...you may actually need to work some 12 steps...I know there is such an organization for chocolate lovers!

I have found drinking the new flavoured waters has helped me A LOT.. and they are made with splenda.. so not sure.. but sweet.. ZERO CARBS.. ZERO CALORIES. If you are addicted to sugar you should also get your blood sugar tested and make sure you aren't diabetic.... before I found out I was.. I was CRAVING sugar.. now I don't want it anymore... I stopped drinking pop ( including diet now) Eating fruit three times a day helped to.. because it is natural sugar it is a bit healthier for you, but make sure you eat other things with it as well so that if you do have problems with your blood sugar it doesn't make it out of control and crave more.. vicious cycle!

SPLENDA. It tastes like sugar, but its not! If you are severly overweight, you need to contact a doctor or nutritionist. Ask your family to help you out, buy more lean foods like chicken, whole wheat breads, and less snack foods. Sugar is the leading cause of obesity in America, so be careful it will show later if it isn't now!

You need to quit cold turkey. I have had this problem, too. You need to go without sugar for a few days, then you will regain the desire for normal food. It's a sneaky thing, and I got addicted to having dessert everynight, and was for awhile....then I realized that I gained alot of weight and it is a b* to get it off!!!!

it sound really like cold turkey, but it's the best way i know of. it takes between two and three weeks to kick a habit, but after that it's over, ya don't need or even want it as much anymore.
that's the best thing i can tell ya though is basic cold turkey and a distraction of some sort.
