Take a ball of cotton and some plain water...adding detergents or any chemicals may take out the lustre of the pearl...just clean it with water...

best way to clean pearls is to wipe them with a soft damp cloth. they're fragile and you want them to retain their lustre.

to protect them, mix some cool water and a "very" mild soap and gently wash them - but do not soak.

avoid soaps with ammonia or harsh chemicals and don't use baking soda or ultrasonic cleaners. sonic cleaners will crack your pearls. some people have steam cleaned or boiled their pearls, bad idea. hot water will destroy them. dry your pearls thoroughly before putting them back. when drying, lay them on a dry cloth so they can retain their shape - never let them hang dry. this regimen has helped my pearls continue to look great. hope it helps you too.
