The 1971 Nebraska team was the best I have ever seen, The Big 8 was dominant in college football that year...I'm pretty sure that's still the only time one conference has gone 1-2-3 in the final national poll...
#1- Nebraska
#2-Oklahoma - only loss to Nebraska
#3-Colorado -

I would like to say the 2005 Texas team sinc eI am a big Horns fan , but would probably have to say the 1971 Nebraska Cornhuskers were better.

I would have to say the 2005 Texas Longhorns. They had the #1 offense and #1 defense. Then they took down a team that was a 2-time defending National Champion.

It's so hard to determine the greatest college football team ever because there's so many great ones. Don't forget about the "Point a Minute" team from Michigan in the early 1930's.
