1 + 2/5 Ã 1000 - 50 Ã 10 + 6
= 1 + 2 Ã200 - 500 + 6
(cancelling the numerator 1000 from 5 as 1000 is a multiple of 5) and we always apply the BODMAS or PODMAS rule in these cases.
BODMAS - Brackets; Of; division; Multiplication; Addition; subtraction.
the arithmetic operations of any level are done in this sequence and any sequence followed other than this will lead to a wrong answer
in American System PODMAS the P stands for parenthese.
the Brackets in British System and Parenthesis in American System are same.
in case of multiple brackets, the order that is followed is :
( ) - Small Brackets to be solved first
{ } - Curly brackets,.they are to be solved after the small brackets
[ ] - they are to be solved at last, after all the operations specified in the small and curly brackets have been solved and simplified. )
= 1+ 400 - (500-6)
= 1+ 400 - 494
= 401 – 494
= -93

The equatioin for the above statement
1 + 2/5(1000) - (50)(10) + 6
1 + 2000/5 - 500 + 6
Multiply 2 times 1000 and divide by 5
1 + 400 - 500 + 6
401 - 494
-93
The answer is -93
The solution set is { - 93 }

according to the BODMAS (Brackets Of Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction) rule, the order is as follows Brackets Of Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction
1 + 2 / 5 * 1000 - 50 * 10 + 6
ie., 1 + ( 2 / 5 * 1000) - (50 * 10) + 6
or, 1 + 400 - 500 + 6
or, - 93

Negative ninety three.
Just to clarify, multiplication and division must be calculated first, before adding and subracting. So we have:
1+(2/5x1000)-(50x10)+6
1+ 400 + (- 500) +6
401 - 494
-93
Thank you.
