My first decision would be to decline the opportunity.
I have no illusions about my capabilities to run our country - people tend to think that a person gets elected to that office and they can just do anything they want, but it isn't remotely a fact. You get in there and have people coming at you from all directions with complications you never imagined, and it's up to you to try to keep the whole thing balanced and as many people happy as possible. There are too many variables to make anything an easy decision, and I just wouldn't be able to handle the commotion.
No, whoever is elected to that office always has my full support, even when I don't agree with things they've done, because I understand that there is always a whole lot more to everything than I could ever even know or understand. And I don't WANT to know and understand every little bit of it.
My life is full enough, thanks.

Start a process that eliminates all unneeded government spending, lowering the taxes of the lower & middle classes,a nd offering tax incentives to wealthy individuals who donate to the public good; all corporations would get it up the wazoo in taxes, figuratively speajing, but not to stifle economic growth altogether. Which wouldn't matter because peole would be buying more goods and therefor improving the economy.

re-evaluate and re-distribute federal funding. Funding that isn't crucial could be cut back or stopped entirely depending on relevance. the money would be spread into development and operations of programs designed to target the problem of homelessness and poverty in our country. More money for educational spending, research and development companies, schools, etc. Environmental funding as well as medical funding would be a priority as well.. i would also pay attention to public polls on important issues...

I'd shut the US southern border down to illegal immigration, win in Iraq and then have breakfast before I started in on the schools, the economy and health care.
