We don't use bibles in the courthouse anymore. You ever been in a court room? All they want is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth

The court is still considered a separate entity outside of government and the church. Even the media is not allowed in there during proceedings...and we all know the media are like cockroaches, they're everywhere! Swearing by the Bible has been a staple of the courts since its inception. You could say they're stuck with it. But once you step out of court, it's a whole different story.

The Bible also states that you should never use God to swear on anything... like for example,,, I swear to God, I'm telling you the truth.
this is blasphemy. I swear I just read this the other day in the book of Amos I think...I'll bet you've broken every commandment there is anyway, short of killing someone...you ain't that much of a badass...stop being a hypocrite...My answer to you is...don't do the crime if ya can't do the time...don't hate the sinner...hate the sin...God bless You, in the name of Jesus... Amen! :)

unfortuntely you are expected to due to being the way courts have been ran for centuries....personally I would ask the judge why you should....say something like "your honor how do you expect me to swear on a bible when you don't permit the Lords commandments in your court room, isn't that being a little bit two faced"

Give it time and you probably won't have to do that either. Considering how bad it is to do such things to certain people. The crime rate, homeless, falling education levels are all on the rise. Heavens forbid we don't display the ten commandments though.

Yeah, I never got that either... do they make Hindus and Muslims swear on the same Bible? They need to get that book out of the courthouse too.

That's a darn straight good question! I never thought of that. I'll come back to read the answers.
Valid, valid point you brought up. Let's start that we just simply live in a twisted society that likes to do illogical stuff.

Do they still do that? I know I would not put my hand on a bible while reciting the oath.
