Nope, not at night, not during the day. What for? I live in the middle of nowhere and since my husband and I are disabled, we're home practically 24/7. Before I was married and lived with my parents, who religiously locked doors and windows at all times, we ended up getting burglarized 3 times. I don't own anything that's worth more than my life and I do have ways of protecting my life besides a locked door or window. I also leave the keys in the vehicle ignition, write my PIN number on the card, never shred important documents with personal information on them, pickup hitchhikers....c'mon, let's not be so paranoid. All I know from experience is that if someone is serious about breaking in and thieving your posessions or inflicting personal bodily harm, nothing's going to really stop a sicko like that from doing it--least of all a locked door or window. It's one thing to be sensible and take precautions, but you can't depend on it. Oh yes, I live in The USA.

I live in the US, in a western state, and I miss the good old days when you could leave everything unlocked!
Yes, all our doors, both on our houses and cars, are locked at all times, day and night. The only exception is a sliding glass door that looks out over our back yard. Sometimes in the evenings, when there is a nice breeze, we open that, but only if someone is up and about.
We live in a very nice area (in fact, it is the highest income area in our entire state), and breakins are very common, during both the day and night. Nine times out of ten, the thieves don't even have to technically break in; someone has left their door unlocked. Their method is usually to knock and ring the bell several times. If no one answers, they try the door. If the door is unlocked, they just walk in and take whatever they like.

I live in the USA and yes, I do keep my doors locked...always! Someone came by one day,[a friend, but not my best friend]. I did not feel like seeing them at that time so I didn't answer the door. I happened to have my door locked at the time. When I didn't answer the door, this person TURNED the doorknob to get in!!! I was so ticked off! What were they gonna do? For all they knew, I wasn't home! That taught me a lesson. Some people will walk right in..not invited. Never again!!

No, I rarely lock my doors. As a matter of fact, I couldn't find a house key if you offered me a $1000 (seriously, haven't seen one since I moved in 5 yrs ago).
I have a dog outside that lets me know if anyone or anything is outside and 2 dogs inside.
I live in N E PA.

We lock all our doors at night because we had a guy who was running from the cops hide in our yard (in our tent trailer to be exact) and we came home while he was there.
Luckily one of our dogs lunged at him and scared him off.
But not for long. He came back about a week later (when we weren't home, thank God) and stole one of my dad's dirt bikes.
They found one of his accomplices but they never caught him.
So that's why we lock our doors at night (and whenever we leave the house).
P.S. I live in America.
