God so many greats! Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, BB King, Joe Walsh to name a few. I think I'll go with Eric Clapton. He is fantastic and smooth.

Can't agree with the one above that said Hendrix really :(
Between Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn... too close to call
EDIT - Kendrix and Rhoads (among others) were dead before they could hit their prime. With this in mind I'll say B.B. King or Clapton (kudos to the ones that said them)
