First of all, failing a grade is not failing life. I know it feels like it now, though, but God will get you through. I believe that it is better that a student stay with their ability level, not their age level. You can have friends of any age, older, younger, or the same age! Being held back a grade now will not hurt your chances of college, or a future. It will just give you an extra year to get to the top of your class! Just think, this year will be a lot easier, since you know a lot of it, already! Some things to check into to ensure your success:
Talk to your school counselor about getting a tutor from the school, and being tested for a learning disability.
If you have a learning disability, there are ways to help that! It isn't a death sentence! There are LOTS of VERY successful people with learning disabilities! Abraham Lincoln, for one.
Remember that this IS for your best interest. Talk to your parents or a trusted adult about your concerns, and keep positive, it will turn out fine.

I know this is very hard for you.
But you are better repeating this grade now rather than a higher grade later.
Grades only get harder, not easier.
Better to repeat now and have a better grade for later. those higher grades mean you understand more. The early grdes teach you the things you need to learn the hard stuff later, but more importantly, the early grades teach you how to think.
you have to learn to compose your thoughts clearly so that you can ask and understand questions effectively.
if you are good in some areas but weaker in others, for instance math, then you need to work on those weak areas.
There a number of cheap computer educational programs you can work on without being embarrassed by classmates.
You have the time to surf yahoo, you can spend some time studying and practicing your weak areas.
If your parents can afford it, and are not able to help you, they may be able to afford a tutor to help you.
If you progress fast enough through mega hard work, they may be able to approach your school to advance you to the next grade.
But don't worry about high school, by the time you get there, things will seem easier.
School is supposed to be hard, but one day you will look back and it will all seem like a big joke.
The real work is worrying about your kids! (and kids that remind us of them!)
Good Luck.

I am a teacher, are you sure you don't have a learning disability? Have you ever been tested? If you do have a learning disability, there is nothing wrong with you, you just have a different way of learning. The school would be required by law to give you all the help that you need to succeed.

Did you attend summer school to help make up the classes?
You need either a tutor or someone to help you focus on your education and not the social scene. try to find yourself a mentor. A teacher that is willing to give you extra time.
Mainly, it's up to you to put the time in.
