Superman DOES have powerful enemies; Darkseid, Brainiac, Mongol, to name a few. The blame goes to Warner Bros. for not pursuing exactly what you're talking about. Perhaps they will attempt other villains beside Lex next time around. All I can say is perhaps a letter to Warner Bros. with your question might get them thinking in the right direction. Like you, all I want to see is Superman REALLY lay the "SMACKDOWN" on his enemies! Supes has weaknesses, so he doesn't have limitless power (Green Kryptonite, Red Kryptonite, Magic), and the Producers, Writers, Directors, etc., really need to get it together as the blame lays in their direction. Same goes for the other Superhero movies being produced-I am hoping Ghost Rider and Iron Man make up for this. (Batman Begins was pretty damn good, though).. Good question.

the problems are it was nearly impossible for him to do everything he did in the movies.
from the first to latest sequel (not including superman returns) if we saw it again, it's suck.
how could he lift a frozen lake to distinguish a fire with his small-strong hand? he'll get only a piece of ice cube.
how could he lift a heavy vehicle? his strong power will break the metal and he'll lift only a piece of it.
and there's many more..
in superman returns, it takes better. look how he try so stabilize the falling plane. wings are broken, that's right. although there were some odd things, like when he stop the plane, catching big globe or lift the crystal island, it should be broken by his hands.
the point is it against the law of physics

Actually, I think his biggest weakness is having to put in a long, complicated love story with Lois into just about every movie. Maybe Richard Pryor was a bigger weakness though.
Seriously, you are right. I think the best of the Christopher Reeve movies was 2 because he had to fight villains who could match him power for power. Only his brilliant mind and understanding of Lex saved the day.
I think we need to see Doomsday or some other non-human out to wreck the earth in his next movie. Of course, who wouldn't like to see a Batman/Superman movie?
Whatever you do, just keep Lois Lane and her lovelorn angst on the sideline. Save that crap for "Smallville."

As a good example, did you catch the last episode of Justice League Unlimited on Cartoon Network? Superman gets fighting with Darkseid and starts talking about how he walks through the world like it's cardboard, and this fight was a chance for him to cut loose. Rock 'em sock 'em action! By the way, the next time they need a Lois Lane, send in Erica Durance again. :)

Actually....the one thing that the movies never seem to touch on, and that the comics do, is Superman's real weaknesses.
No, not the latest shade of Kryptonite or magickal woojy-wooj...
His mind. This is a guy from Krypton who *just wants to be human*, but can't. This is a guy who in all physical senses *ought* to be God Almighty and yet he's JUST the Big Blue Boy Scout. This guy is the *biggest slacker ever* in terms of potential. Does he even know what *ambition is*? Hell, half the plot for the latest DC-hash-out, _Infinite Crisis_ is about just this sort of thing, that Superman really shouldn't be as passive, almost as soft in the head, as he is typically.
His best villians and best fights should not just match Superman power for power but also *exploit* these character flaws that make him at once the *archetype* of the hero (and so damnably naive, gullible, and predictable at the worst possible moments).
So. You send in _Brainiac_. You keep it similar in concept to what Alex Ross is doing with the character in _Justice_ in terms of character. You have a cold-souless entity, who is basically just a damn _program_. He could not just upload himself into any robot body anywhere that he has a spare of....he might even be able to hack *people* too, and take them over, like that other Agent Smith.....
In other words, when he/it is in a robot body, Brainiac should rather be like the *Brains* in that old-school game _Robotron 2084_: creepy-looking as hell, quick, capable of turning *innocent bystanders* into *programs* just like it, and also launching barrages of guided beam missiles too if need be. In *addition* to that Impenetrable Force Field. ;)
I mean, it would be one thing to have Superman recycle the Brainaic *hardware*, but another thing to have to deal with the *software's* possessing Lois, Jimmy, a school-bus full of kids, half a dozen little old ladies from Sunday night Bingo.....how would the Big Blue Boy Scout deal with that?
He wouldn't. He'd get tooled, that's how. Which is why you have Brainiac team up with the *last* entity on any planet that it would *want* to hack, someone dumb, incoherent.....
Bizarro. Lex Luthor's failed attempt to clone Superman, what you have is a decent enough mind, trapped in a twisted, warped mockery of Superman's body, with twisted versions of all of Superman's powers.....and oh yes.....
Bizarro is Dyslexic, Dysgraphic (can't even draw a smiley to save his soul), Aphasic and Apraxic verbally (can neither find the right words to say nor does he know mechanically how to pronounce a damn thing). So yeah....it really doesn't matter, Bizarro could be a genius...a tortured artist...(Andrew W. K. anyone??)
But he *CANNOT* for the life of him communicate one single thing in a coherent manner. Not that an alien A.I. like Brainiac knows this, of course, all it is looking for is someone powerful enough to take on Superman, and this is the logical choice (all the powers, and Kryptonite makes him *stronger*??).
(at least until in one last ditch move, one villain hacks another and suffers the Brain Drain from Hell, *lol*)
So how about it? Would this work, say as a Tarantino Superman film, done up _Kill Bill_ style? *lol* (*ducks and covers*)

not today. Wolfgan Peterson grew to become into going to do a Batman vs Superman action picture in '02 or '03 in spite of the shown fact that it did not pan out. whilst they did i'm Legend, they have been in simple terms thinking of videos that would desire to be achieveable. possibly with all the internet buzz approximately it, they take yet another verify out the script that grew to become into going for use for the '02 action picture.

The problem is not with Superman the problem is with the people who see him cruising thru the air :
I wonder how can they be so stupid that everytime they see Superman they exclaim the same phrase :
Is it a bird .... no it's Superman . I just want to ask them what's wrong with their eyes?
Second, this is a very typical thing that I have ever thought of :
How can they afford to overlook his real identity when he wears specs? even in reality we will be able to identify such man.
