No, I can't tell. But in all fairness I also can't tell a scottish person from an english person from a german person - and so on & so on. Actually I'm glad I can't tell. Less preconceived notions that way.

I been living in china for a while, although one is meant to say that no you can't tell a person is japanese or korean or chinese by there looks, I can have a good guess that someone is one of thoose nations but I do not like to say (as some chinese hate the japanese etc etc etc). In general and on average I have seen that these groups will have slight diffentents that are chacistic to there race, although it does not mean that you are of that race. And if people see these common charactics they will automatilly think of that race.
For example I'm white, then people ask me there I'm from they think I'm from the states or English and not scotland or wales. If i have an amcerian accent they would think I'm from the states then in fact I would be from canada. The simple turth is people will think you are japanese if they have only come into contract with other japanese people who have traits that they reminder that look like yours.

Yes, I'm Korean, and people usually call me Chinese because most Asians that live here are Chinese. People usually think along with majority. Anyways, I used to live in Japan, I know many Chinese people, and I'm Korean, so these things just come along with instinct. More than looks, I depend upon accents. However, It's hard to tell from some people because People don't always marry people from their countries.

Chinese and Japanese definitely have different eye structures. Koreans I can tell by the width of their nose.

most of the time people are just stereotyping.
japanese and koreans they think are short and skinny, and bow a lot. They also sometimes have colored hair (usually orange or gold) (I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but this is just a stereotype.)
Chinese are a bit taller and have black hair. Other than that, the three groups look pretty much alike.

Koreans have typically longer torsos and shorter legs. But it's just a generalization.
There's a joke we have in the Philippines about a Chinese, Japanese and Filipino eating the same noodles over and over again.
Chinese: (putting both hands on either side of the temples stretching the eyes UPward) Noodles again??!
Japanese: (putting both hands on either side of the temples stretching the eyes DOWNward) Noodles again??!
Filipino: (putting both hands on either side of the temples stretching the eyes INward) Noodles again??!

Yes you can tell. There are distinct facial features that can distinguish between japanese and chinese. However, between korean and chinese, the distinction is less significant.

Sometimes I can, because their skintones are a little diferent. Japanese are sort of pale, Chinese people are a bit darker and Koreans...some are a little darker than Chinese.

Yes. But a person has to be around all three before they can do it. It's like maybe a person from China trying to tell the difference between an Irish and an English and maybe a Dane. Really hard, I'd say, unless they've spent time around all three.

I can tell, only because I have been all over the world. Just different facial characteristics, body types and sizes, sometimes very subtle but it's there. Of course there are exceptions to the rules.
