I m not sure which rahul dravid u r talking about. It seems that his decission are very much conventional and becoming predictable. Just listen to the commentary when India fields....... in a ODI u will get to know how innovative one can be.... anyway i should say he is aggressive than most indian captains... kapil dev and sourabh ganguly still have some edge.... however it is just one year or so, he is a captain, and we all know how well he uses his experinece(at least in case of batting).... so lets see what he does as a experineced captain.
not directly related to this question.... stephen fleming is the most efficient captain these days, with lots of invotativeness in his decission....

Rahul Dravid is one of the best captains in the present cricket.
I can say this as he has the mettle to take some of the bold decisions that will surprise the critics also and atlast he comes with good results (Maximum).
He also uses his bowlers in an excellent way. He sees that no bowler should get fed up on bowling many overs and also makes good and appreciable bowling changes in crucial times. He uses his bowlers in the way that no other can use them. His fielding positions and placements are expertive. He analyses the batsman's mind and then places the field according to the bowling. The other thing is that he gives his bowlers to be free and keep their desired field placements which gives the bowlers more confidance to bowl as they have set the fielding.
He does not criticise the co-players even though if any one failed in a match or two he goes behind them and boosts them. His way of talking to the press is very informative. He will be like a member of the team with the co-players and not like a captain.
Comming to his batting, What words are there to describe his beautiful, intelligent, ..... batting. He leads the team from the front. He had saved the team on many number of occations. He is a sort of all-round intelligent for Indian cricket.
So considering the above views,I can say that Rahul Dravid is the Best captain which India ever had.
Hope you also agree with this discussion.

no...not yet...he is far away from the best..ganguly was the best...even azhar was great...dravid himself is a master player...but not a great captain like saurav...he still lacks confidece while making decisions on field...he seems to be overshadowed by chappell at times..specially with the batting orders...and even the final team that india plays these daya are normally controversial havingmore of greg chappell into it...he lacks that zeal which ganguly had as a capatin

Obviously, coz he is not the type of guy who after becoming captain forgets his prime duty to serve the nation well, he always gives his 100% whether batting, fielding, or taking decisions.
