You would still be a virgin, tampons aren't sex. The barrier that your friend was talking about is called a hymen. The hymen is a thin layer of tissue that is part of the vulva. Many girls today have their hymens broken as young girls and don't even know it due to physical activity.
Yes, it would probably break to insert a tampon, assuming you hadn't broken it already while riding a bike or something. It could also just stretch to accommodate the tampon, assuming you weren't being rough and shoving it in. GENTLY is the key here for first time tampon users until you get the hang of it. Relax, go easy, and follow the instructions on the package. Once inside, you won't feel them, unlike pads, and there is no odor, less mess, and no bunching, slipping to worry about! Try the junior size first then go for whatever absorbency fits your needs.

You can be a virgin and wear tampons. This is an old urban myth, this story has been circulating since tampons were first marketed to the public over forty years ago. Why aren't you asking your Mom or a family member this question? Instead of a bunch of total strangers... Good luck to you.

when your a virgin your hymen is not broken. But a tampon will not break the hymen. If you have never used tampons before the best thing to do is practise with slims first. If it feels uncomfortable then remove it. try again with a new tampon. follow the instructions on the leaflet inside the packet. all the best of luck.

on condition that the tampon is a lot wider than you're, which isn't very in all probability. The vagina is made to be waiting to look after issues lots larger (quite, a penis) than a tampon, so it is going to no longer be a topic. Your hymen progressively breaks away in the time of your existence (once you're born it thoroughly covers your vaginal establishing), so as that via the time you have intercourse, maximum of that's already long previous. A tampon could contribute to breaking away the hymen and widening your establishing if yours is extremely slender, otherwise it heavily isn't a controversy.

I'll add my two cents, for kicks! You can be a virgin and wear tampons. The barrier? Thats called a hymen, and it can be broken from: sex, tampons, physical activity. So inserting a tampon might break the hymen and it might not.

no. the barrier your friend referred to is called your heimen (i'm not sure that's how it's spelled but it's said 'hi-men') and it is broken when your first have sex (which is why you bleed). it can be broken while using a tampon but it's not necessary in order to use one. i used tampons when i was a virgin (and by the way, they don't hurt) and still bled the first time i had sex. don't worry about it.
